The Craftswoman Behind the Craftsman

IT ALL STARTED WHEN...

my husband told me he wanted to quit his job and start a business. I was a stay at home mom with two little boys.  Now I had to go back to work part-time, still keep up with managing my household and live on a very tight budget.  I have to say I was a little nervous at first but now I look at it as an interesting challenge.  Our business has taken off beautifully, almost faster than expected, causing me to work less already and him more.  We are doing this with no sitters or daycare service, so as you would expect money coming in isn't what it was when he was working full time at his previous job.  In doing this I have found how much I love to live simply! Minimizing the clutter around our home and purely enjoying the things around us rather than filling our house with more....well crap.

My background is actually baking and I have always thought and been told I was born in the wrong century.  I honestly don't know the last time I bought bread, I have even started grinding my own wheat berries and making my own flour.  If you haven't tried bread that way you have no idea what real bread is suppose to taste like!  Along with bread I also make my own yogurt, ricotta cheese, mozzarella cheese, butter, pasta, graham crackers, gold fish crackers, tortillas and tortilla chips, granola/cereal and much more!

Writing a blog has always been in the back of my mind but it wasn't until my best friend suggested I do it that I started to really think....hey I can do this! I am always trying new and old recipes; making things that take us back to a simpler time when food was real, no preservatives and with real full flavor.  I am excited to share our journey with all of you and look forward to what the future holds.  As a family we have never been as happy as we are now and I hope that these postings will only encourage others to consider a more simple and frontier like life.
